I Have a Calling Jonathan, Saul’s son, was very intelligent, strong, courageous, honest and trustworthy. Most importantly, he feared the Lord. David and Jonathan shared a very deep friendship. David was anointed as the next king, a position that was Jonathan’s inheritance as his father was the present king. But leaving all pride and jealousy aside, Jonathan willingly gave up what was his, stood by David, and fulfilled the covenant he made in the presence of the Lord. Jonathan helped David escape from his father Saul who wanted to kill him. Jonathan strengthened David! Jonathan was a helper, without whom David would not be alive and would not have sat on the throne and accomplished what God had ordained for him. Likewise, sometimes you may be called to be like Jonathan. You may not be in the forefront, but God has ordained a special calling over your life. You may find yourself invisible, but you are important, without whom the leader cannot succeed or accomplish what God has ordained. 1 Corinthians 12:12,26 tells us, for as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Every person in the house of God is significant and valuable – the body of Christ is made up of diverse parts, each with a role to play. Some are visible and evident, while some are not. But each is as important as the other. Prayer Lord, help me know and understand my calling. Guide me to accomplish what You have planned for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
