Your Ability Doesn’t Matter A few years before this face to face encounter with God, Moses had committed the sin of murder and was on the run, trying to escape the consequences of his actions. He had spent the next forty years in the desert, taking care of his father-in-law’s cattle. It seemed like an improper punishment for defending his people, the Jews. Nevertheless, he was a criminal and, maybe that’s why, he hid his face when the Angel of the Lord appeared to him at the burning bush. Yet God chose him to carry out His plan of bringing the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses should have felt privileged. Instead, he started making excuses to wriggle out of the situation. God not only explained His plan but also promised to equip Moses with all the tools necessary for executing this plan and assured him that He will be with him all the way. What more could anyone ask for? My dear brothers and sisters, when God speaks to us, conveying His will for our lives, He does not look at our past history or our natural abilities. God knows each one of us too well to recognize what we’re capable of. He’s looking for those that are willing to do His will. Scripture says, God’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:9). We should not try to rationalize God’s commands but have an attitude of total surrender, knowing that God is with us all the way. When God calls us, He gives us the ability and equips us for His glory. Just like Moses, He will be with you and carry you to the end. Prayer Heavenly Father, I am privileged to know that You have a great plan for my life. Help me incline my spiritual ears to hear well and have enough faith to know that I can depend on You completely for the fulfillment of that plan. Amen.
