Abundant Life At his first job interview, Dave was asked, “Why did you apply for this position?” Dave replied, “This job offers a good pay packet, so I would like to take up this position.” Unfortunately, this was not the response the employer was looking for. They were looking to hire someone who would add value to the company with his skills, and they were willing to pay well for such a candidate. Dave didn’t clear the interview and failed to get the job. While Dave’s answer does sound silly, sometimes we too tend to be like him. We desire to live a luxurious life with a good career, great friends, a big house and a nice car. Nothing wrong with that. But we start pursuing these things instead of pursuing righteousness and love, which are only found in God. He is the source of life and the giver of all good gifts. James 1:17 says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Let us not make our lives about the pursuit of the end product - the house, the car, the good life. Rather, let us pursue the Life Giver. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6). As we pursue our Lord Jesus, we will find direction, resources and empowerment to live the ‘blessed life’ that He bought for us by His death on the cross. We attract the good life to us and do not have to run after it! Prayer Father God, I want You today to be the center of my life. Thank You for life, prosperity and honor that follow after me because I seek You first. Amen.
