The Secret Things Our God is an awesome God. We cannot begin to fathom His majesty and greatness. We often come across situations that seem inexplicable to us and we try to understand them using human wisdom and intellect. We do this because we have created our own version of what God is like and what He is able to do. When certain events take place that do not conform to this picture that we have of Him, we become disappointed and hurt. We ask ourselves, ‘How can a good God allow these things to happen?’ We then convince ourselves of a reason why God allowed what he did to take place so that our faith in Him can be restored again. But this is a very dangerous thing to do. Firstly, because the Word says that the secret things belong to Him. Secret things that we cannot fathom with our natural mind should not be analyzed in our own strength. Secondly, the explanation that we give ourselves may not explain all the infinite acts of God. When your faith is wearing thin because of these difficult situations you may encounter, the key to strengthening your faith is to focus on what God has promised in His Word. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. As Christians, we are called to trust God with all our hearts. Even when we go through trying situations, we must trust Him and acknowledge Him in all circumstances and He promises us that He will direct our steps. Prayer Heavenly Father, we pray that as Your children we will learn to trust You and Your goodness and grace. Enable us to strengthen ourselves in Your Word and to do all that is written in it so that we may prosper in all we do. Amen.
