On the Flip SideSample

Do you have any friends that live or go to school in Australia? If you do, you can ask them about this. In Australia, they don't grade their homework or tests with A, B, C, and so forth like in America. Instead, they give out HD (high distinction), D (distinction), and so on until you get to P (pass). There is a saying in Australia that goes: "P's get degrees!" The point is that the bare minimum will do just fine, but is that the approach we should be taking when it comes to our spiritual life, our social life . . . to life in general?
Our relationship with Jesus is not based on our "grade" or performance. Paul reminds his young friend, Timothy, "For to this end we toil and strive." Read those words again (Might be different but similar depending on your Bible translation)— toil and strive — those aren't words we use when we're coasting. Those are words we use when we are fully engaged in what God is calling us to do, whether that's church, school, or friendships — we do it all to the glory of God.
How can you move from simply showing up this week to being fully engaged?

About this Plan

Jesus wasn’t exactly known for telling people what they wanted to hear. Jesus didn’t give feel-good sermons. He flipped people’s ideas about God, the world, and themselves upside down — usually in uncomfortable ways. In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll compare how Jesus challenged the religious leaders and what God says in the Old Testament on what’s wrong or right, good or bad, and just or unjust.
