Have you ever gotten into a big fight with a friend? Walking away from the moment, you may realize some things can never be taken back. Conflict is bound to happen, and resolving conflict is often harder than we want it to be. Bringing up conflict with a friend can be awkward. You may not want the issue to continue or get worse. You may still be hurt and not sure where to start.
The Gospels are full of moments where Jesus and his followers faced conflict. In the book of Luke, Jesus mentions the best way to resolve conflict. Communicating to your friend openly, honestly, and full of grace are all practices Jesus models. The friendship grows stronger over time through those moments of facing and resolving disagreements. They are unexpected growth opportunities. How can we be open and honest with each other? We earn each other's trust so that when we face conflict, we can hear each other out.
What does it mean to handle conflict in a healthy way?
