Precious to Me As humans, God has given us the ability to want and desire. All of us, regardless of our upbringing or stage in life, have that unique drive to set our eyes on someone or something and go after it. Even though it feels sometimes like our desires are being set for us or forced upon us by the demands of life, the truth is that desire will grow for whatever we allow ourselves to focus on. What we want the most says a lot about us. Desires reveal priorities. If we're not careful, in the midst of the mayhem that invades our lives, we can find our desires and wants being drawn toward so many different things such as success, relationships, fulfilment, family, ministry, and the list goes on. Nothing is wrong with these things. They are God-given and definitely worthy of our pursuit. But there is One who should reign over every desire in our hearts no matter what season we are in or what demands are in front of us. As Psalms 73:25 says, "Whom have I in heaven but You? And I have no delight or desire on earth besides You." There's nothing in this life that should hold our desire like He does! In my own time worshipping God, I am overwhelmed with desire for Him. More than my pursuit of anything else, I want to know the Holy Spirit. That's where this song came from: I want You, More than success I want You More than my dreams Holy Spirit You are so precious to me Why not take a moment right now to take a look at your desires. What do you really want? What is PRECIOUS to you? What have you been pursuing lately? For some of us it may seem like you're just getting through life, but I promise that if you look hard enough, you'll realize you're being led forward by a desire for something. What is it? That's why worship is so important in our life with God. Worship causes us to refocus on our first love, that original desire and want within your heart, for God! Maybe that desire has been suppressed or distracted lately. Maybe you've found yourself wanting after many important things, but the desire to know God and be in His presence has ended up somewhere at the end of the list. How much do you want Him? How precious is His Presence to you right now? I encourage you to take some time as you're reading this now to worship and allow that desire to well up again. Ask precious Holy Spirit to stir that love and desire for God and let yourself get caught up in it again today.
