Freedom From Addiction

DAY 2 OF 14

I think sometimes we hear the word love and simply brush it off because it is used so often, but let’s remember that love is a person, and that person is Jesus Christ.

And when I realized that love has a definition, it was a game-changer for me and my relationship with God.

Jesus is patient with us. Jesus is kind to us. Jesus is not jealous. Jesus does not brag. Jesus is not arrogant. Jesus does not act disgracefully. Jesus does not seek His benefit. Jesus is not provoked. Jesus does not keep an account of a wrong suffered. Jesus does not rejoice in unrighteousness. Jesus rejoices in the truth. Jesus keeps every confidence. Jesus believes in all things. Jesus hopes for all things. Jesus endures all things. Jesus never fails. (1 Cor. 13)

The Father’s deepest desire for you is that you live a long life of wholeness with Him. He wants you to know, “the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3)

God is so serious about accomplishing this in our lives that the Son of God left His throne in Heaven to come and endure the shame and humiliation of the cross on our behalf. God would not send His Son to save us and then fail to follow through on His main objective. He is serious about walking you into wholeness and freedom.

Prayer Tip

Take a few minutes today and ask God to help you understand His love for you. Ask Him to take you on a journey, to show you the immensity of His love. It is when we begin to understand and grow in His love for us that the reality of His righteousness, peace, and joy will naturally settle down in our hearts.

Action Step

Challenge yourself to think, “What is my definition of love?” Does it line up with the real definition of love? Try doing a little thinking, writing, and praying about this question.
