Freedom From Addiction Sample
We live in an information age where oftentimes people believe that the pursuit of knowledge is the key to living a better life. Knowledge can be very helpful, but a complete life only comes from knowing God. The more we know Him, the more we will want to become like Him. The more we become like Him, the more our faith grows in Him. The more our faith grows in Him, the more we will want to, and be able to, turn away from the world and draw the world to the Father.
I knew right away in my early walk with God that I needed to know Him personally. I came to know too that a search for knowledge about addiction, as beneficial as some of it can be, in and of itself, wasn’t going to fix my addiction issues. I needed to grow closer to God and partner with Him to overcome my addiction. Intimacy with God empowered me into effective action steps.
Faith in God, even the smallest amount of faith, is the essential first step in coming to know God. The more we get to know God, the more we feel His grace and compassion, and our faith grows. As our faith in God grows, His presence empowers us to take the action we need to live free.
Prayer Tip
Ask God to show you simple ways to put your faith into action. You don’t need to start with massive leaps of faith. Start with small and simple acts. Begin by asking God to help you step out of your comfort zone, and follow Him as He leads you into an ever-growing and active faith.
Action Steps
Facing your challenges with God as your partner is “faith in action,” and it’s a great place to start. Find a way to, and take a step deeper into freedom today. Act with faith as you feel inspired to make a phone call to someone, give someone a ride somewhere, or call someone and ask for their help. Whatever simple step of active faith you engage in, it is a step in the right direction.
