What a Beautiful NameSample

When you see a teacher hold up an object or show a picture to help you learn something, it's called an object lesson. It's a great way to help us understand things or remember what we've learned when we see that object again as we go about our everyday life.
Jesus loved to teach with object lessons. He used a mustard seed, vine and branches, sheep, birds, fishing nets, and fig trees. One of the most important object lessons Jesus taught used some bread and a cup. Just like the disciples, we eat bread and drink from cups every day. What could bread and cup teach us?
In the last supper, Jesus held up bread and told His disciples that it represents His body. Like a loaf of bread that is broken to be shared and eaten Jesus’ body was broken so we could be saved and healed.
Jesus held the cup and told the disciples it would remind them of His blood. The juice or wine in the cup is red, representing Jesus’ blood spilled for us so we could be forgiven.
The disciples may not have fully understood what was about to happen, that Jesus would die on the cross and rise again. But from that day on when they shared the bread and cup, they would remember Jesus.
Christians the world over continue this practice of remembrance when we share communion, when we share the bread and cup we remember what Jesus has done for us. Jesus our King, Christ, and Saviour.
