You may be wondering, "If Jesus is alive right now, then why can't we go and see Him?" Great question! One of Jesus' disciples asked the same thing. Thomas wasn't there when Jesus had appeared to the other disciples. When they told Thomas that Jesus was alive, he didn't believe them and wanted to see Jesus for himself.

Later, Jesus came to the disciples again and spoke to Thomas, “Put your finger here. See my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

After Jesus died, His body was buried in a tomb. When He rose again, the tomb was empty. For 40 days after Jesus rose again, the disciples saw Him, spoke with Him, and ate with Him. The Bible says that more than 500 people saw that Jesus was alive.

Then Jesus ascended to heaven and the disciples watched until a cloud hid Him from their sight. The Bible says Jesus was seated at the right hand of God. That's where Jesus is now but it's not the end of the story. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would come and live in us.

We can't visit Jesus in person, He's not hiding out in a special location that people line up to see Him, but Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be with us always. Jesus said He would be with us always. The Holy Spirit, God's power, the same power that raised Christ from the dead, lives in us! We are resurrection people, raised from death because of our sin, to life through Jesus Christ.
