Creativity + Jesus: A 5-Day Reading Plan for Kids by Dave ConnisSample

“...because God thinks you’re awesome, He loves when you do you things.” — The Inventions of God (And Eva) by Dave Connis
God made you “very good.” He loves you times infinity plus one and is so proud of you. God also made you like Him, so every time you make or invent something cool, you’re not just making something cool, you’re being like God.
When you invent and create, you are doing what God made and invited you to do. You’re saying, “ABSOLUTELY, YES,” to His party invitation and joining Him in making the world new and beautiful. When you build a spaceship from legos, when you draw a picture, when you write a song, it’s exactly like naming the animals in the garden.
When we invent and create, we show the world what God is like and invite others to join His party. We’re sharing His abundant love, happiness, and joy.
So go make and invent awesome things! Share them. Invite others to the party. When you do, you’re helping God make all things new and beautiful.
And that’s awesome.

About this Plan

Whether it's a new plan for a tree house, a refreshed take on a rocket ship, or a robotic dog that eats unwanted broccoli, kids are always inventing, coming up with new ideas, and stretching their imaginations. And as Dave Connis illustrates in his book, The Inventions of God (and Eva), when kids create, they are expressing a reflection of God's character and joining Him in His act of creation!
