1 Peter: Is All of This Worth It?Sample

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine Peter writing this letter to the early church. What might the weather have been like? Maybe he found a comfortable space to sit and write, or maybe he wrote by the light of the moon. Do you think he was feverishly trying to capture every thought on paper as quickly as possible? Or perhaps it took him days of careful thought-out writing. Either way, this letter gave Peter the opportunity to put in one place everything he needed to say. These letters became a lifeline for new believers, full of encouragement and instruction on how to live and grow in God’s kingdom.
ASK:
-How do you think it felt for this new body of believers to get a letter from Peter – someone who literally walked with Jesus?
-How can you look to Peter’s words today as a lifeline for your life as a follower of Jesus?
TAKE A NEXT STEP:
Take a moment to thank God for His Son Jesus and for how He has loved you, protected you, chosen you, and helped you.
About this Plan

In many areas of today’s world it is not easy being a Christian. We need to ask, is it worth being identified as a follower of Christ? If so, how should we live in a world that rejects us? The early church was asking these questions, too. They were the target of jokes, rumors, discrimination and persecution. God answered and encouraged them through 1 Peter, as He will for us!
