1 Peter: Is All of This Worth It?Sample

Every single one of us is a sinner. Peter reminds the church in this letter that sin is a choice to disobey God’s word. But God, full of grace, sent Jesus to die for our sins so that we don’t have to. Just as He did for Israel, His chosen people in the Old Testament, God continues to show love and mercy to a sinful people. He has chosen His church, both then and now, to build His Kingdom by letting the light of Christ shine through us.
ASK:
-What is Peter saying the church is called to do as God’s chosen people?
-How does it feel that God calls you a part of His priesthood while knowing that you will sin?
-Do those around you see you proclaiming the good news of salvation?
TAKE A NEXT STEP:
Just as Peter writes a letter to the church about who they are in Jesus, take a minute today and write a note or a message to someone you know to remind them how much Jesus loves them.

About this Plan

In many areas of today’s world it is not easy being a Christian. We need to ask, is it worth being identified as a follower of Christ? If so, how should we live in a world that rejects us? The early church was asking these questions, too. They were the target of jokes, rumors, discrimination and persecution. God answered and encouraged them through 1 Peter, as He will for us!
