All the Feels

DAY 5 OF 7

Have you ever looked at someone and thought: “I wish I were like them…” Comparing ourselves to others can be so easy to do, especially with social media. All we have to do is open up TikTok or Instagram and immediately see people who have the electronics we want, the clothes we can’t afford, or go on vacations our families would never take. The problem with comparing ourselves to other people is that it quickly leads us to jealousy. Jealousy is hard to escape. It grabs ahold of us and consumes our thoughts. Suddenly the only things we can think about are the things we don’t have, and we forget to be thankful for all of the things God has given us. God warns us many times about jealousy throughout the Bible. He tells us that jealousy is an emotion He feels about us- He wants us to love Him and be in a relationship with Him- but it’s an emotion we can become trapped in if we’re not careful. The way to fight jealousy is through thankfulness. Instead of looking around at everyone else and feeling jealous that you don’t have what they do, try looking around with thanksgiving, praising God for all He has given you! It’s hard to get out of the jealousy trap, but it’s worth it, and God will help us along the way.

Challenge: Today, practice not comparing yourself to others by taking a break from social media for the whole day! Spend the day thanking God for the things that you do have instead.

About this Plan

All the Feels

Emotions can be confusing. We all have them, yet what we’re experiencing almost always feels different from everyone around us! The most important thing we need to know about our emotions is that they are good. Join us for the next seven days as we take a look at some of the emotions we feel and what God has to say about them.
