All the FeelsSample

When was the last time you felt sad? Maybe your best friend said something unkind about you behind your back, you missed the game-winning goal, or you lost a pet. Sadness is a part of life, but it’s still a hard emotion to go through. The thing about sadness is that when we feel sad, we often feel alone, too. It’s easy to think that no one else understands the pain or unhappiness that we are feeling and that we have to go through a sad time by ourselves. It’s especially easy to think that God leaves us alone to figure out our sadness. But did you know God is closer to us when we’re sad? In the book of Psalms, there’s a verse that says, “the Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” God comes closer to us when we go through hard times in life. He doesn’t abandon us or make us figure out what to do alone. He actually comes closer to us than ever before. Sadness isn’t a fun emotion to experience, but we do have the promise that even when we do feel sad, God is near to us and ready to listen.
Challenge: Take time today to encourage someone in your life who is going through a hard time. Write them a note, give them a call or text, or make them some cookies! Pray for them specifically and remind them that God is close to them in this challenging time.

About this Plan

Emotions can be confusing. We all have them, yet what we’re experiencing almost always feels different from everyone around us! The most important thing we need to know about our emotions is that they are good. Join us for the next seven days as we take a look at some of the emotions we feel and what God has to say about them.
