I Am Victorious

“...in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37

Imagine showing up to a game knowing that you were going to win — not that you would have a good game or make a great play, but that the final score would be overwhelmingly in your favor. 

As you put on your uniform, tie your shoes and warm up, you have the knowledge that no matter how intense the competition might get, you are leaving as a winner. 

Would you treat your teammates differently and be more gracious when they made mistakes? How might you respond to your coach’s corrections and instructions? Would you give any thought to your opponents’ trash-talking if you knew that you would come out on top? 

Imagine the confidence you would feel knowing that the game had already been won!

Friend, that is the mindset we should have in life as followers of Christ. Jesus has already fought the fight and won the war against sin and death. In Him, we have a sure victory — no matter what doubts creep in or what others say, we have victory in Jesus. 

We cannot be conquered by failures, shame or lies because Jesus, the Victorious King, has made us conquerors in Him. 

Application: Think about your mindset as you head into practice or a competition. Do you go in with confidence or fear and dread? What can you do to remind yourself of your eventual victory that Christ provides?
