SWHW Two Year Bible Reading Plan: February, Year 2Sample

Top Takeaway by Sarah Martin:
Well, if today’s reading doesn’t make your head spin and swirl, I don’t know what would. And, if in these wild days we live in, don't make you cry out, “Come, Lord Jesus!” I don’t know what would either! Ha!
But in all seriousness, so many men and women smarter than me have argued for centuries about end-time theology. This passage from 1 Thessalonians 4-5 is central to arguments for sure.
Bottom line: no one knows what hour Jesus will come back riding on the white horse as Faithful and True (Revelation 19:11). But, what I do know is this…
A holy desperation for God Himself is what is called for in this hour.
Now is not the time to be asking, “God tell me more about me...”
No, NOW is the hour to seek all of who God is and let the light of His glory, power, love, mercy, justice, forgiveness, and restoration speak to every square inch of our world.
RISE UP church.
BE the church.
PRAY like those who have the ear of the only ONE who saves...because we do.
But first, seek who God is and not just what He offers you. He is the gift. He is the end goal. He is the greatest reward.
Make ready! Our one True God will come back. Will we be found ready?
“But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6
Because Jesus changes everything, He is worthy of our attention to make ready.
“For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
Might I pose some questions for you to sit with as you read today’s Scripture and position your mind, heart, soul, and strength toward holiness to make ready for our Faithful and True Jesus?
- Where am I operating in bitterness because of lack of forgiveness?
- Do I have hard spaces in my heart where I must confess, repent, and turn toward God’s best?
- Do I walk eyes open to things above while determined to be salt and light here on earth? (Colossians 3)
- Is the mundane of my day filled with praise, prayer, and worship rather than striving and hustle?
- Do I walk out the first and greatest commandment to love God and love others?
Jesus, thank You for the Cross. Your death and resurrection restore me back to the fullness God created me to live in with unity and fellowship with Him. I declare that today, I will live sober to the glorious news that You are coming back. I declare today that I will make ready! Amen!

About this Plan

Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work; aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical five-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
