SWHW Two Year Bible Reading Plan: February, Year 2Sample

Top Takeaway from Lauren Diggs:
Are there ever times when you’re reading scripture and come across something that makes you go, “Uhhh, I could really use some more details on that one.”? Yeah, me too.
“So Elisha died, and they buried him. Now bands of Moabites used to invade the land in the spring of the year. And as a man was being buried, behold, a marauding band was seen and the man was thrown into the grave of Elisha, and as soon as the man touched the bones of Elisha, he revived and stood to his feet.” (2 Kings 13:20-21)
This man’s life was over. He was dead. And was thrown into a grave where he touched the bones of Elisha and was made alive! End of story.
We don’t get any more details than that. But what we do get is a beautiful picture of the redeeming power of God in our lives. We see it in this story and many like it throughout the Old and New Testament. We see it in the death and resurrection of Jesus. And maybe we’ve seen it in our very own lives. I know I have.
Seventeen years ago, my husband had an affair. To everyone, including me, our marriage was over. It was dead. It had been thrown into the grave and buried. End of story.
Except it wasn’t. What I thought was over, Jesus renewed. What was declared dead, He restored. What had been thrown into the grave, He resurrected and redeemed. He revived our marriage, and we stood on our feet again. All for His glory and our good.
While we may not walk away with the details we were curious to have in this story, we can walk away with the truth that God, back then and still today, is in the business of redemption. There is nothing in our lives that is too far gone or buried too deep that the resurrecting power of Jesus cannot reach into and redeem. End of story.
God, thank You for Your redemptive power in my life. There is nothing that is too far out of reach for You. Even *fill in the blank.* I know You are moving and working for my good and Your glory. Remind me of that when I become discouraged and help me in my unbelief. I love You, Amen.

About this Plan

Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work; aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical five-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
