DAY 36 OF 38

This verse plays in my head from my earliest childhood Sundays at church. I look at it now and am curious; how often have I faked my faith? We talk about faith and say we believe in the unseen. I've never seen a million dollars but I believe it exists. Billy Graham is quoted as saying "I've never seen the wind. I've seen the effects of the wind but I've never seen the wind". Examples of Faith like that make faith appear pretty easy. What is the risk in believing it? Minimal. Have you tried to walk on water? Have you tried to move a mountain? How about simply uprooting a mulberry tree? I believe this is Jesus challenging our faith. I don’t think Jesus is telling us to try and walk on water or uproot trees. Much like a football coach will challenge players to make them better or stronger, Jesus challenges us. A mustard seed is likely the smallest thing the common person would recognize. Our faith is the basis of our belief in being saved and having eternal life, but should we be satisfied to believe that Jesus had faith enough to walk on water without us seeing it?

What about you? Is your faith strong enough to believe you can perform the truly difficult tasks that Jesus says we can accomplish with faith as small as a mustard seed? Or are you easily swayed when someone simply asks "but could you really?" We will never have enough faith. Keep building your faith!
