He leads me beside still waters

Do you feel like you are being battered by one storm after another?  Do you look to the horizon and see only storm clouds?  Do you fear tomorrow and what it will bring?  

It can be hard to remember that God is with us through every day, leading us safely beside still waters.  As we battle the storms of life we can get caught up in our busy lives and to do lists and endless worry. 

The psalmist David knew these feelings.   His words remind us that God is with us even on the stormiest days and that he can calm the storm of fear and anxiety, grief and depression, stress and uncertainty.

Remember a time when you sat by a calm sea or a peaceful lake. Imagine you are back there, in a place of peace and quiet.  Can you hear the waves lapping on the shore? Can you feel the gentle breeze on your face and the warmth of the sun? God is with you in this stillness.

If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed today, bring yourself back to this memory of still waters and know that God is with you, calming your storms and leading you to stillness and peace.

Lord God

Thank you for being with me every day.  Help me to hear you more clearly as you guide me through the storms of life and to know that I am safe in your care.
