 Seeing in the Spirit Realm

When we know that we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, we are able to recognize thoughts that do not originate with us. If our children have no discernment, they may assume that the bad thoughts that they hear are their own thoughts. Shame, for example, can come in and tell them that they are bad. If our children do not understand that this thought has come from the enemy, they are left to assume that the shame must be accurate. This sort of thinking is not only immature, but it keeps our children from being able to recognize when a demon is speaking to them.

This is why being able to see into the spirit realm is important. If our children have scary or wild thoughts but do not have the ability to see the demons in their room, they could believe that those thoughts are coming from their own minds. If they could see the demon sitting next to them, however, they would be able to understand that those thoughts are being sent by the demon.

Keep in mind that not all negative thoughts our children have come from a demon, and not every child deals with demonic visits. If your children are not dealing with crazy thoughts or drastic changes in behavior, then you do not want to encourage them to look for spirits behind every corner.

Our main assignment on earth is to live in the atmosphere of heaven. This is how we are positioned to bring heaven to earth. We live in whatever atmosphere of which we are most aware. Every time we become aware of what the enemy is doing, we are to direct our attention and abilities to God and His Kingdom.

Ask God to speak to you in ways that you are not accustomed to. It may be pictures, movies, Bible characters, creation or dreams, or it may be through hearing, feeling or smelling, etc. When God speaks to you, write down what He says. You can pray with your children and have them practice in this same way.

Ask God to give you wisdom to ask your children really good questions about their dreams and the things they are sensing. Does your family need help processing what they have been picking up from the spirit realm at night? Talk to God about your family’s dreams and welcome Him into that area of your family’s life.
