GO2020 | ENGAGE: June Week 3 - ABIDESample

June 19—Praying at All Times
Read
Ephesians 6:18-20
Reflect
It’s no mistake or coincidence that Paul, after describing the armor of God and our one offensive weapon, God’s Word, follows up with “praying at all times in the Spirit” (verse 18 ESV). The armor of God and prayer go hand in hand. Paul knows that for our spiritual battle to be successful we must pray “at all times.” In another place Paul says, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV). Prayer is communication with God, and as we pray, we should be alert, we should persevere, and we should keep all believers in our prayers. Pray for yourself and for all who are following Christ that God would give us boldness and courage to proclaim the gospel of the kingdom to all we meet.
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, 1 Peter 5:8. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.

About this Plan

We are in a battle. The war has already been won. Jesus has totally and overwhelmingly won the war! However, we are in what we could call the “mopping-up” stage. We are in between two important events: the time between Christ’s definitive victory on the cross and his triumphant return to earth. In this in-between stage we are called to make disciples who in turn make disciples.
