COVID-19/PSALM 91: 7 Keys to Conquering Fear

Day 3 of 7 • This day’s reading

A thousand may fall at your side ...

How have you been today? How is your family? We’re continuing to move forward with this series of special messages, which are meant to help conquer the fear of COVID-19 and replace it with the promises of Psalm 91.

“A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.”

(Psalm 91:7-8)

I remember that when I was just a child, one of my classmates had pain in her lower right abdomen. Suspecting that it could be appendicitis, they took her to the doctor. Thank God, it was nothing more than a scare in the end, but somehow that experience affected me. The fear of appendicitis gripped me. For years, every time I felt something in that area of my body, my pulse would accelerate, and I would start praying, wishing it were nothing.

When we see the havoc that the coronavirus is wreaking on people all over the world, fear wants to take hold of us. There seems to be no escape, but this is where Psalm 91 turns the situation around. The Lord tells us: “Even if you see thousands falling at your side, do not fear! I am with you; I’m protecting you! Fix your eyes on Me!”

Yes, dear friend, fear distorts reality, amplifies things that are unreal. Did you know that in the 25+ years since that incident with my friend, I’ve never had appendicitis? There’s no point in being bound by fear! I’m convinced that today, God will begin to free you from your fears too, as you spend more time with Him, as we saw yesterday.

Let me pray for you: “Father, I ask that my dear friend feel Your peace in the midst of this storm. I ask for supernatural protection over him/her and over all his/her family and friends. Send Your angels, and do miracles in our lives, Lord. Thank You for Your victory! In Jesus’ name, amen!”

I carry you in my heart.

You are a miracle!
