#JESUS2020 - Daily Devotionals

DAY 4 OF 35

In the past three days, we have read that God has heard our cries and seen our needs. In the same way, as He set out to deliver His people of Israel after 430 years of slavery, in John 12:12 He sets out to deliver His people - meaning all the people who want to follow Him - from the burden of the separation between God and human beings. Eight chapters in the Gospel of John (John 12 to 19) tell us about Jesus’ last hours before His death. They begin with the entry into Jerusalem.

Here He is received like a hero. A few days later, the people from the same city demand the death penalty for Him. What irony!

Which side are you on? Do you believe that God wants to enter your life and the lives of the people around you or would you rather banish Him from your life? Are you ready to come towards Him with palm branches and warmly welcome Him into your life? Would you like to wholeheartedly join in the chorus of people, "Praise be to God! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!"

ACTION STEP:

Name an area in your life where you would consciously like to welcome Jesus during the next 40 days. An area where you realize that Jesus does not yet fully reign.
