#JESUS2020 - Daily DevotionalsSample

What an awful and terrible night that must have been! Lambs are slaughtered and the doors are marked with their blood. The Israelites retreat into their houses and eagerly await the morning. Outside, death rages. In the darkness of the night, all the firstborn sons and male animals of Egypt die. There is no Egyptian house where people are not crying and mourning. Only the Israelites are spared thanks to the blood of the lambs.
Nothing could be compared to this awful night in Egypt. This first dramatic Passover became a great solemn thanksgiving dinner with the whole family in the following years. Is it possible to imagine oneself back into this first Passover night? For the generations that followed, it was also very difficult to understand what it meant to be a slave. It was also difficult for them to imagine the horrors and the sacrifices needed for the deliverance.
Therefore, all the generations that followed should be reminded again and again of this night: People and animals had to pay with their lives for freedom. For their deliverance, they had to sacrifice a lamb. They owed their freedom and salvation solely to the grace of God.
You also owe your freedom and salvation to Jesus alone. He paid with His life as a perfect Passover lamb for you. Because He died, you are saved; because He sacrificed Himself, you are free.
ACTION STEP:
Do what the Israelites did at Passover. Remember what it was like when Jesus saved you. What was your life like before you met Jesus? What has changed since the day Jesus led you into freedom?

About this Plan

The Lamb of God dies in Jerusalem, on a cross. Three days later He rose from the dead - sin and death are overcome. Two thousand years later, His blood sets me free. During the weeks before Easter, we want to acquire a deeper understanding of this fundamental event of our faith, get to know Jesus better and experience how His loving deed on the cross changes our lives forever.
