#JESUS2020 - Daily Devotionals

DAY 19 OF 35

I remember very well when we set off on our summer holidays as a whole family last year. A 10-hour drive was ahead of us. Believe me, none of my four children were happy about this. Neither were my wife and I. Nevertheless, we set off, direction north. Our goal: a little snuggly house in the dunes of Denmark. Our hearts were full of anticipation for what we would experience and enjoy in the following weeks. This anticipation and the confidence that a wonderful time lay ahead of us helped us to put up with the strains of the long journey.

Moments of change in our lives can be marked by joy, excitement and positive expectations, or by fears, worries, and insecurity. Sometimes it is also a strange mixture of both. Do you know this feeling? You know something new is coming and you are faced with a decision to leave familiar areas and discover something new. I would like to give you the following three aspects along on your journey. They can help you find peace and security in uncertain times of change and upheaval:

  1. Trust in the "tour guide”
  2. Have an idea where you are going to and what things will be like there
  3. Fellowship with people you love

To 1: Trust in the tour guide

As I was speeding along the German highway at 200 km/h for hundreds of kilometers, my children were sleeping calmly. They knew that I knew where I was going, that I could control the car and that God had His angels around us.

When you have given God the steering wheel of your life, you can trust Him to come with you to your destination. The path with Jesus can sometimes be quite challenging - there are hardships, obstacles, conflicts, and doubts. But during all this, you can be sure that God is omnipotent and wants the best for us.

We will have a look at the other two points tomorrow.

ACTION STEP:

Close your eyes for a moment and imagine you are sitting on the backseat and God is firmly holding the steering wheel of your life in His hand.

About this Plan

#JESUS2020 - Daily Devotionals

The Lamb of God dies in Jerusalem, on a cross. Three days later He rose from the dead - sin and death are overcome. Two thousand years later, His blood sets me free. During the weeks before Easter, we want to acquire a deeper understanding of this fundamental event of our faith, get to know Jesus better and experience how His loving deed on the cross changes our lives forever.
