GO2020 | ENGAGE: February Week 2: PRAYERSample

February 12—Simple and Powerful Prayer!
Read
Matthew 15:21-28
Reflect
Today’s Scripture tells us a perplexing story of a woman in great need who seems to be ignored, then insulted by Jesus. It is important to understand that culturally Jesus was not supposed to speak to the woman, but that didn’t keep the woman from expressing her need. One aspect of prayer is communicating our needs to God. In this case, the woman had to be persistent; she showed great faith and her faith led to an answer to prayer. How willing are you to persist in prayer for someone else?
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions.
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verses, Luke 11:2-4. Spend a few minutes working to memorize them.

About this Plan

GO2020 is focused on mobilizing people to pray, but how should we pray? What should we pray for? This week we will discover how to pray as Jesus taught us.
