GO2020 | ENGAGE: February Week 2: PRAYERSample

February 10—God’s Pattern for Prayer
Read
Luke 11:1-4
Reflect
The prayer Jesus taught his disciples and us, begins with the word “Father.” We have the privilege of calling God, the Creator of the universe, Father! Second, we pray for God’s Name to be hallowed, lifted high, glorified, and what greater way for us to do this than to lead others into worship of Jesus by sharing what God has done in us with those we meet!
Let’s look at Jesus’s pattern for prayer:
· Paternity: “Our Father”
· Person: “hallowed be your Name” (worship)
· Program: “Your kingdom come”
· Purpose: “Your will be done”
· Provision: “Give us this day our daily bread”
· Pardon: “Forgive us our sins”
· Protection: “Lead us not into temptation”
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passages. Say or write them out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What do they say about God?
· What do they say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply these Scriptures to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verses, Luke 11:2-4. Spend a few minutes beginning to memorize them.

About this Plan

GO2020 is focused on mobilizing people to pray, but how should we pray? What should we pray for? This week we will discover how to pray as Jesus taught us.
