Group Launch

DAY 11 OF 14

Jesus takes prayer pretty seriously. You have probably read throughout the gospels that Jesus would often take time, get alone and pray. But he didn’t just do this alone. The night he was arrested, he gathered his small group together (his disciples), and he asked them to pray for him. Why did he do this? Jesus didn’t want to fight the battle all alone. He desired to have a community of people praying for him, as he was dealing with the hardest struggle of his life.

There is nothing worse than feeling isolated and alone when you are going through the roughest parts of life. Yes, you may cry out to Jesus. But there is something extremely special about some of your closest friends gathering around you and praying for you. You are able to live with so much more confidence knowing you are being prayed for throughout the week. You are able to be way more vulnerable with each other if you know the people listening to your deepest struggles won't judge you but will, instead, pray for you! Prayer is an essential part of a group. No, you don’t have to be in prayer for hours on end, but your intimacy will grow with Jesus and with your group as you pray together.

Questions:

When was the last time you stopped and prayed for someone in person? Why is it hard for you to pray for others?

When you are going through tough seasons, do you share about it? When you share, do you desire to be prayed over?
