DAY 47 OF 48

Jesus wept

Only 2 words and they are so significant.

Jesus' eyes filled with tears as he heard of the death of his friend Lazarus. He is deeply sad. Jesus especially loved Lazarus.

Jesus cares about us and how we are doing. He loves each one of us very much. In challenging and difficult times, he suffers with us, he feels with us – and Jesus knows fear. In his darkest hour he asked his father in tears to save him from suffering / death / dying.

When my husband got cancer 9 years ago, my life was turned upside down from one day to the next. I was scared - afraid of the upcoming surgery, afraid of the consequences of chemo, radiation therapy and - fear of death. Many months we went through an emotional chaos. God was really challenging us.

Our family and many friends were with us the whole time, accompanying us through this time, praying for us, suffering with us, fighting and crying. Despite much pain, this was a particularly valuable and formative time.

With the certainty of an unimaginable life after death and a deep peace in his heart, my husband died on his 39th birthday.

Jesus defeated death after he died with open arms for us on the cross. He says:

"I am the resurrection and the life!"

With this commitment, I was able to let go. I'm sure Jesus was waiting for my husband with open arms. And he held me tight in his arms and cried with me.

Be sure / keep reminding yourself, Jesus loves you too!

ACTION STEP:

Do you know someone who is going through difficult times?

Pray for him and hug him / hold him tight.

Sometimes a tear helps more than thousand words.
