#JESUS2019 - Daily Devotionals

DAY 44 OF 48

Following Jesus does not mean to go through a happy clappy life all the time. It does not mean that we no longer encounter problems when we follow Jesus. But he can change our way of dealing with them.

We know that we should consider problems as an opportunity to see God's glory. Sometimes we give meaning to suffering too quickly. But how easy is it for us to fall into negative thoughts in this particular case?

Why is this happening to me now? God should protect me from that. Why are others doing well and not me? Why does God allow me to suffer so much, even though I give him so much?

I also had such thoughts when, a few years ago, I suddenly became seriously ill. Doubts and despair spread. Jesus then met me especially in the times of worship. It became more and more clear to me that I can trust God and that he has a good plan, even if I just cannot recognize him right now. Jesus does not promise that in our lives everything is always good, but he promises to be with us and to go through with us through this time.
Jesus responded calmly to the news of Lazarus, because he thought, beyond the death, of Gods´ will. He knew that the will of God is always good.

ACTION STEP:

Have you also experienced severe suffering, or are you in the middle of it?

Pray in confidence to God, "your will be done," and trust that He will give you a new perspective beyond your present suffering.

About this Plan

#JESUS2019 - Daily Devotionals

During the weeks before Easter, we want to acquire deeper understanding of this fundamental event of our faith, get to know Jesus better and experience how his loving deed on the cross can change our lives forever. We will take a closer look at Jesus’ 7 “I am” statements and by doing this, we will find out who Jesus is and what he has to offer us in deeper ways.
