Hope when it seems scary 

Have you ever been given a big task or responsibility? Did it feel so huge that you did not know how you would accomplish it? 

Jesus’ Mom, Mary, knew this feeling well. An angel came to her and let her know she was pregnant. This baby was chosen from God to save the world. She had no idea what to do with that news, but she knew it was from God. Mary could have asked so many questions, “Why me?” “Couldn’t you have chosen another girl, maybe who’s older?” “How will I be a good Mom?”

But instead of asking why, Mary thanks the Lord with a beautiful song, “My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me – holy is his name.”

In the middle of getting the biggest news of her life, Mary rejoices and has hope that God is in control. She was looking forward to the future with hope because she knew God was in control. Her song came out of a heart of gratitude. She was thankful that God would entrust her with such a huge task. 

What task have you been given where you need to trust that God is in control? Remember, God will not put you in a situation you cannot handle. The attitude you have amid the task is important. Will you choose to worry or praise?
