DAY 2 OF 5

Discontentment

Be Joyful, Pray Continually, and Give Thanks. Sounds like a pretty simple guide to life, right? Wouldn’t it be great if it was that easy? But it’s one of those “easier said then done” statements if we are honest with ourselves. Let’s just focus on the “thankful” part today, because the cure for discontentment is to be thankful.

We have all had those feelings of wanting more than what we have. The “I wish” or “If only” statements have come out of our mouths. We wish we had a better phone, car, job, the list can go on. We are discontent with our lives because we see what others have and what we don’t. It gets pretty depressing right? Want to know how to stop it? Be Thankful!

Be thankful that you woke up and got out of bed this morning, there are some who can’t. Be Thankful you have the opportunity to go to school or work, there are many that are not allowed. Be thankful you have food and water to drink, that you have the technology we have, that you have friends and family who love you.

I understand there are times when it is hard to be thankful. I have dealt with depression, I have had those feelings that there is nothing to be thankful for. But as someone who has been through that and come out on the other side I will tell you this truth… Satan will try to distract you so that you are not thankful for what God has blessed you with.

Even if you can’t think of blessings to be thankful for in the moment, remember this truth, just one statement…. Christ Died for You.

Even when life seems rough, and you can’t see anything good, remember Christ thought you were worth dying for. He died so that you could live, so that you could have eternal life with our Heavenly Father. Now that is something to forever be thankful for.
