One Heart and Mind
Reading: Acts 4:32-37
Key Verse: “All the believers were one in heart and mind” v. 32
One of the features of the early days of this church is their remarkable unity. It is not the result of brain washing or dictatorial leadership but of the unity produced by the Holy Spirit as He joins and unites people’s hearts together.
The emphasis of the Protestant Reformation on the “priesthood of all believers” and the insistence of a personal commitment to a personal Saviour can sometimes blinker us to an attitude of individualism in our journey of faith. We are individuals who God loves personally but He places us in the collective unity of His church. It’s not about me, it’s about us. When we are of one heart and one mind an ability is released that is greater than the sum of us as individuals.
Leadership and vision is important to ensure we are all “singing off the same hymn sheet”. This is reminiscent of Johnathan’s leadership when he set a direction of advancing God’s kingdom and his armour bearer replied, “Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul” (1 Sam 14:7).
When Israel assembled together as “one man” before Ezra (3:1) and Nehemiah (8:1), Jerusalem was rebuilt. When we come together in unity, Christianity will be rebuilt in the UK!
Prayer: Lord I ask that you join and unite my heart and soul with others in Your church
About this Plan

We have created TOGETHER – a Daily Devotional to help us as a community and you as an individual grow in your relationship with God. Every month we will explore different themes and deepen our understanding of Bible. We’re looking forward to doing this TOGETHER with our church.
