Life in blood 

We have seen that we are all imperfect before God. Our faults mean that we “at odds” with God instead of being “at one” with Him. Like a faulty aircraft part we should be destroyed. However, there is a process where some faulty aircraft parts can be restored and made perfect by being “re-worked”. Jesus has re-worked us so that we can be at one with God!

Some time ago I received a speeding ticket issued by camera surveillance.  However, someone else was driving my car. I transferred liability for the penalty for which I was charged to another and never heard another thing.  He paid the penalty for the fault of which I was accused.  God has provided a way to transfer the liability for the penalty caused by our sins to another.  This process is referred to as “Substitutionary Atonement”. In other words, reparations are made on your behalf by a substitute. The penalty for sin is death, but God accepts the death of a substitute perfect animal genuinely offered as satisfactory reparation on your behalf and you will never hear another thing about your sin! The blood was regarded as proof of death and bought you life!
