The description of God as a “God who sees me” is worth exploring further. Today’s reading is the story of the calling of Moses. But it is not just about how Moses was called but why he was called that is important.
God saw (in different translations) the misery, suffering, depression and anguish of people He had created. And to see their suffering made Him so concerned that He determined to act to set them free and instead give them a place of blessing. So God called Moses to act as His ambassador to secure the release of His people from the oppression and pain of their captivity.
When God sees people in pain and distress He is so concerned that it motivates Him to act to help and bless them. When Jesus saw the sick, when He saw hungry crowds and when He saw the bereaved His insides churned with compassion to help. He wept at the tomb of His friend Lazarus and over the state of Jerusalem.
God sees the world and is so concerned about its suffering that He has called you and me as ambassadors to work with Him to set people free of their spiritual captivity.
Prayer: Lord, I am humbled You see and are concerned about me. Help me be a faithful ambassador to others in need
