Isaac blesses Jacob 

His father Isaac answered him, “Your dwelling will be away from the earth’s richness, away from the dew of heaven above. You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. from the dew of heaven above. You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck.” (Genesis 27:39-40)

After Esau’s birthright was taken by Jacob, the blessings of Isaac were also taken by Jacob. Isaac said that there would be many obstacles awaiting Esau, but if he persevered, he would overcome them. God’s blessings will not come naturally; everything must be ‘worked out’. Just as God gave the Garden of Eden to Adam, His first commandment to Adam was to manage it and care for it. In the next few chapters we will see Esau who successfully attained a lot of possessions and was able to accept and let go of Isaac whom he initially wanted to kill.
