God is Just
Know God’s heart; a heart of justice and truth
In Jeremiah 9: 23 & 24, The Lord speaks through the prophet Jeremiah saying “Let not the wise man glory in His wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in His might, nor let the rich man glory in His riches; But let him who glories glory in this, that He understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness, judgement, and righteousness in the earth, for in these I delight,”.
Our boasting must have root in our understanding and knowing that our God is just and delights in exercising judgment in the earth. Administering justice at all times and in all circumstances, is one of the attributes of our God which is disclosed to us in Scripture. Psalm 89:14 tells us that ‘righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; mercy and truth go before your face’. Wherever God’s kingdom has its influence, that domain will be marked with righteousness and justice. Therefore, we need to earnestly pray ‘Thy Kingdom come here on earth’ so that we can consistently see righteousness and justice being administered here on earth.
Our immediate response on seeing unfairness, injustice, abuse, oppression and mistreatment of people around us; must be to go down on our knees and plead with God for His justice to come to pass in those situations. Psalmist David professes of His God in Psalms 72:4 that ‘God will bring justice to the poor of the people; He will save the children of the needy, and will break in pieces the oppressor’. It is our obligation as believers in Christ to partner with God in prayer imploring for justice for poor people, needy children and for those who are oppressed. Let’s exult in knowing and understanding a just God who loves justice being dispensed on the earth.
Father we pray that you will move our hearts, you will move us God to see justice brought to the poor, the needy, the oppressed, the abused, the unfairly treated. God, we know that’s what you want to exercise on the earth. Help us to work with you to see that happen. In Jesus name, Amen.
