Who Is the Holy Spirit?

We have been created by God to live a life that makes a difference. But where do we start? We start by becoming people who pray. Why? Because prayer connects us to God and helps us become more like Jesus. In the final part of this collection of Plans, we will walk through the most famous prayer ever prayed—the Lord’s Prayer—and discover the powerful practice we have been invited into.

Becoming Like Jesus: Prayer

When you hear the phrase, “must have Jesus,” do you buy it? Maybe you thought you needed Jesus at one point in your life when things were rough. Maybe you don’t know what to think about Jesus at all. In this Plan, we are going to follow one of the most famous chapters in the Bible to discover who Jesus is and what life is like when we trust Him.

Because of Easter, everything has changed. Now, as the Church—the people of God living out the will of God—we have been filled with God’s Spirit and commissioned to continue the work of putting all the broken things back together and bringing heaven to Earth, so that once again, order is brought out of chaos. We are called to bring shalom.

Shalom

What is my purpose? This question is so important because how you answer it will determine the direction of your life—which is also what makes it so overwhelming. That’s why, over the next five days, we’re diving in to discover how to find and fulfill our calling so that we can live free from anxiety about the future and be confident that God will use us for good.

The Calling: How to Discover Your God-Given Purpose

What do you value most? What is your priority? That thing that comes before everything else. Is it God? Family? Friends? Fame? Wealth? Clout? During these next four days we are going to explore what we value most and discover how the spiritual disciplines of fasting and worship work together to help us keep first things first.

Make Room

As followers of Christ, we are not primarily citizens of any earthly nation, but of God’s Kingdom! So our way of operating in the world should represent our true allegiance. We are called to be Kingdom people. What does a Kingdom person look like? Jesus gives us the best description in His most famous sermon—the Sermon on the Mount.

Community is all about God’s design for us and His heart for us to know Him. But, why is that not actually what we experience in relationships? They are hard, messy, and often painful. How does that make sense if community is what God is all about? That’s what we’re talking about in this Plan as we learn to become like Jesus in relationships.

What makes you, you? A set of internal characteristics? External behaviors? Your likes and dislikes? In part 3 of Becoming Like Jesus, we will discover that before we were or had any of those things, we were made, loved, saved, and called by our Creator. And because He made us, what God says about us is the most true thing about us.
