Leadership Thinking

DAY 1 OF 10

Day 1: A Leader’s Prayer & God’s Answer

Reflection:
When Solomon became king, he could have asked God for power, wealth, or victory over his enemies. Instead, he prayed for wisdom to govern God’s people well. This reveals the heart of a true leader—leadership is about serving, not self-seeking. God was pleased with Solomon’s request because it flowed from humility and a desire to honor Him.

Every leader faces decisions and responsibilities beyond their strength. Prayer is where leadership begins. Solomon’s example shows us that the right request is not for ease or recognition, but for discernment to lead with justice and faithfulness. When leaders put God’s will first, He provides wisdom and often blesses beyond what was asked.

5 Reflection Questions:

  1. What does Solomon’s prayer reveal about his heart as a leader?
  2. Why do you think God delighted in this request?
  3. How does humility affect the way we pray as leaders?
  4. What might it look like to prioritize wisdom over success?
  5. What do your prayers reveal about your leadership priorities?

Application Question:
👉 Where in your leadership do you most need to pray for wisdom this week?

Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, give me a discerning heart. Teach me to lead with humility and wisdom that honors You.”
