Day 5: The Importance of Check-In
Reflection:
Paul went to Jerusalem to meet with the other apostles and confirm that he was preaching the true gospel. Even the greatest leaders need moments of accountability and “check-ins” to stay aligned with God’s truth.
There’s also something powerful in the fact that Paul brought Titus, a young leader, along with him. By exposing Titus to this kind of leadership moment, Paul was shaping him for the future. It reminds us to continually think of the next generation—preparing, equipping, and allowing them to experience what leadership looks like in practice. A good question to ask ourselves is: Who am I taking along with me?
Leaders who isolate themselves risk drifting into error or pride. But checking in with others ensures that our leadership remains faithful, balanced, and trustworthy. Paul’s humility to seek affirmation from others did not weaken his authority—it strengthened it. True leadership welcomes accountability, both as a safeguard and as a blessing.
5 Reflection Questions:
- Why did Paul check in with the apostles in Jerusalem?
- How does accountability strengthen leadership?
- What are the risks of leading without input from others?
- Why is it sometimes hard for leaders to accept accountability?
- How can you create regular “check-ins” in your leadership?
Application Question:
👉 Who do you need to check in with this week for encouragement, wisdom, or accountability?
Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, protect me from isolation in leadership. Surround me with wise counsel and help me remain accountable to Your truth.”
