40 Days of Spiritual Reboot

If the primary goal of spiritual warfare is endurance and defence we must be aware of the weapons that are used against us. We must also remember that the enemy is a crafty snake and will not use obvious and ineffective weapons. He uses the things he knows already cripple or disqualify us. The most powerful weapon he uses is fear.

“For the devil roams around like a roaring Lion, looking for whom he might devour”. The strategy for success is striking fear into the opponent.

Why? because it achieves his mission. Let's get back to basics. You and I are made in the image of God. We are covered by the blood of the lamb. We are in-dwelt by the Holy Spirit. We are covered by Covenant Promise through faith. Ok… so… you’re all that. In which case… He ‘cannot’ destroy you! He cannot touch you. You are beyond his reach.

Then, can you be destroyed? Who can destroy you and how?The answer is YES. You can! How? Fear!

And he knows that. What is his mission? To oppose the work of God on earth in reconciling people to himself and growing a healthy body of believer who will bring about the great commission. So if he can get you to render yourself unusable, unfruitful, unfaithful... Unable to accomplish God’s purposes in your life, his mission is accomplished. On the flip side, that is exactly Gods will for your life. He wants you to be fruitful, usable, faithful… accomplishing the purpose for which he created you.

So fear is the primary weapon. Which is why the scriptures numerous times encourages the believer ’NOT to fear’. ‘Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world’. “Resist the devil and he will flee from you”. If God thinks there is a way to get the Devil to run from us… would you be interested in know how? If God called his bluff and gave you inside information so you didn’t need to fear, worry or be anxious, would you be eager to know what that might be. I’d like to think we do!

What fears do we humans have that Satan uses against us?

Well it is the fear of being alone and uncared for. We will compromise our values to avoid this situation.

It is the fear of insignificance or irrelevance. We will put others down to find ourselves on top.

It is the fear of ‘loss of revenge’. We cannot bear the thought that those who have hurt us or abandoned us or used us or robbed us can get away without paying for it. So we hold them captive with our attention, sometimes staying awake through the night lest they escape from our thoughts.

The fear of self-doubt or doubting whether something is true. Since we have been lied to so many times and have personally lied to many… we live with the fear that we are being fooled, taken advantage of, been unfaithful to, being abandoned… ‘again’.

The enemy knows this. John 8:44 says he is a liar. He is the father of lies. When he lies, he speaks his native language.

OPEN YOUR BIBLE

Carry forward your reading plan. If you have completed a plan, don’t let a single day pass without moving to the next plan. Let's get through this day without a single day missed.

COME CLEAN

Echo back to God what he has spoken to you today. Come clean about the fears that you yourself have that you know Satan has been using to his advantage. Admit that these have rendered you fruitless. Prayerfully regret the fruit that could have been borne in your life had you not feared but trusted God’s word.

Renew your covenant with God to Be bold and courageous, to resist the devil and his schemes, to test the spirits and be sure that you’re not moving forward in your own strength but in “His might”.
