7 Days of Hope for Overcoming Eating Disordersគំរូ

Your Body Is Sacred
The Word of God is alive and active. It transcends time, and regardless of how the world changes, the Word remains. God’s Word provides us with direction and truth for all things. The Bible contains no mention of anorexia, orthorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders, much less how to handle them specifically, but as you continue to bring your life to God and gain wisdom, you will learn that His Word does address your battle—just probably not in the way you may expect.
You’ve likely viewed your body through many lenses. Most of which, the world likely handed to you. As you read today’s scripture, I invite you to view your body through a new lens; one that your creator is looking through, and see your body in a new way —God’s way.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (NIV) says, “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.”
It’s kind of mind-blowing that this is God’s view of our bodies. In a culture where our bodies are viewed as objects of worth, status, self-discipline, work ethic, and for sex, God simply calls them sacred.
To understand just how meaningful it is to be called sacred, do a simple search to learn the definition. You’ll likely find that to be sacred is to be connected with God or dedicated to a religious purpose, and so deserving veneration (great respect; reverence); to be holy, set apart for God.
Your body, which was created by the same God that created the heavens and the earth, is worthy and deserving of respect. Not because of anything your body has done, or because of the way it looks, but simply because God has deemed it as sacred. Rest easy knowing that you, just as you are today, are the sacred dwelling place for the Spirit of the Lord. You have nothing to prove; it is already so. Let your thoughts be filled with reverence; acknowledging the truth that your body is sacred, and begin viewing yourself as Christ sees you.

Eating disorders (ED) are underwhelmingly discussed, highly misunderstood, and rarely spoken about in relation to Scripture and faith. But even though the Bible may not address this trial specifically, you can still look to God’s Word for wisdom, truth, and healing from the eating disorders you are battling.
