Wondered by the Word — the Bible in a Yearគំរូ

Because It’s All About Jesus
Key Verse : Luke 24:25-27
I love teaching the 5-7 year olds at Sunday School because whenever I ask them a question, their answer is often “Jesus!” While it’s cute to hear, I love the fact that they freely express a truth that many older Christians have not even acknowledged the truth of Scripture, and that is, it really is all about Jesus. Not because others say so but because He, Himself, said it.
In Luke 24, we come to a scenario where Jesus had resurrected and it left the city of Jerusalem in shock and disbelief. The scene in verse 13 brings us to two men walking from Jerusalem towards a town called Emmaus. They were discussing amongst themselves all that had happened, and suddenly Jesus appeared on the scene, pretending He had no idea what was going on. It tells us that the men’s eyes were kept from recognizing Him.
When Jesus asked them what happened, they couldn’t believe He didn’t hear about the raising of a man named Jesus. So they go on to passionately share how they had hoped this man Jesus would have been the one to restore Israel.
Jesus responded, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets He interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself ” (Luke 24:25-27).
You see, even those in the Bible didn’t know that all that was spoken in the days of old was pointing to HIM, the One who would ultimately fulfill the role of the judge, priest, and king. Not just for the people of Israel but all nations.
When we take the time to see the need for Jesus from the beginning of Genesis to the declaration of Jesus through the psalmists and prophets, to the coming of Jesus in the Gospels and the anticipation of the return of Jesus in Revelation, the message of the Gospel will come alive. It is this message that calls us, opens our eyes, redeems us, sustains us, and takes us to a place where we belong—forever in the presence of our Savior.
