When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water, and let down your nets for a catch."

Simon answered and said, "Master, we worked hard throughout the entire night and caught nothing at all. But because You say so, I will let down the nets." When they did this, they enclosed such a very large number of fish that their nets began to tear from the weight.

Yet Jesus Himself would often withdraw quietly to deserted places to pray.

I have not come to call the righteous who think they have no need, but sinners to repentance."

When Simon Peter saw this miraculous catch, he fell down at Jesus' knees in awe, saying, "Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!"

Jesus answered them, "Those who are in good health have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do.

When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything behind—their livelihood, their security—and followed Jesus.

While Jesus was in one of the cities, a man appeared who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You have the power to make me clean." Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him—an act that would normally make someone ceremonially unclean. He said, "I am willing. Be made clean." Immediately the leprosy left him.

But the news about Jesus kept spreading even more widely, and large crowds would gather to hear Him teach and to be healed from their sicknesses.
