Strong And Courageous: Leadership Lessons From The Book Of Joshua

NGÀY 6 TRONG 8

One of the most important leadership qualities is gratitude. When we intentionally express thanks for the many ways God provides for us, it keeps us humble and prevents us from taking credit for how He moves on our behalf.

Joshua 4 is the perfect illustration of this. After God brings the Israelites into safety across the Jordan River, the first thing Joshua does is instruct twelve tribal leaders to help build a monument of stones. These stones serve as a reminder for future generations that God miraculously split the Jordan River for them to cross through safely.

God continues to do the miraculous in our lives today. If you trust in Him and give Him space to work, He will provide miraculously for your company through your leadership. Be sure to stop and recognize His miraculous work when you see it. Call attention and praise Him for it. Find a way to memorialize it so future leaders will know how God has provided.

At the beginning of the infamous year of 2020, I’m thankful we asked God for wisdom and direction. As a result of our time in prayer, we witnessed God’s miraculous provision at our company. God had us move forward in some unexpected and outwardly risky moves. Because we followed His leading, we hit our targets and even exceeded them!

In March 2021, one year after the COVID pandemic began, we were able to gather for our first in-person all-staff meeting. We took time to reflect and celebrate all God brought us through in 2020. Of course, credit goes to the fantastic team of leaders and employees we had at the time, but ultimately the credit goes to the Lord. We asked Him for guidance and a miracle, and that is what He provided.

We didn’t want to move forward without recognizing God’s continued faithfulness to us as a company. Even when we’ve walked through difficulty, we have seen God’s hand. Taking time to process this together as a team is an essential step in moving forward.

The best leaders continually look for ways to celebrate God’s provision and the contributions made by others. Don’t ever stop coming up with new, creative ways to do this. When you give credit where credit is due, you inspire hard work in others and provide a safe place for them to grow and shine.

Whose hard work can you recognize this week?
