There Is Hope

NGÀY 5 TRONG 5

# Hope Is Found in Jesus Have you ever considered the definition of hope? Hope is commonly misinterpreted as the strength of a person’s desire or some vague self-willed determination. It relies on ourselves as the means of giving confidence, the ability to face another day, and be grounded in the belief that I myself can bring about the solution to my problems. However, the Scriptures introduce us to hope in a heavenly form. The Son of God given to humanity and birthed to bring hope to a failing, fallen world. Hope has a name and his name is Jesus. His birth was foretold in Isaiah 9 as one who would be the bridge between heaven and humanity, bringing about the promises of God. If we fail to see Jesus as our hope, then we continue striving to produce our own. The problem with believing in a self-generated hope is that it can be snuffed out with a whiff of adversity, much like a birthday candle on a windy day. But, hope secured in the person of Jesus gives us a heavenly assurance that the trials and seasons we endure are of eternal worth. In fact, we are urged in Hebrews 6 to secure our hope in Jesus; much like a boat uses an anchor to avoid being tossed about on the waves. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this Christmas, it is a wonderful reminder for us to take a moment and reassess where we have anchored our hope.
