Living Out God’s Will Through Wisdom Wisdom in the Bible deals with competence with regard to matters of life. Wisdom is a skill in living life well, in making decisions well and in choosing the right options. Wisdom is understanding, discerning and living out God’s will in everyday life. We live out God’s will on a daily basis through a life of wisdom. Biblical wisdom needs to be sought, pursued, valued and treated as treasures. Why is this? It is because biblical wisdom is not natural but supernatural. It is spiritual and not earthly. When we seek wisdom, we become wiser. And the more wise a person is, they realize their need for more wisdom. Wisdom is also gained by learning to submit and obey God in mundane and daily actions of life. Wisdom is also a life of godly character. Just as character takes time to form, it takes time to gain wisdom. Wisdom is also evident in how we respond to God’s discipline. A father disciplines his son out of love and for their good. In the same way, our heavenly Father disciplines us for our good. Wisdom helps us respond rightly to God’s discipline which enables us to build character and grow in wisdom.
