Reading the Bible in Historical Sequence Part 5

Solomon ignores his own writings against adultery, falls for many foreign women and starts honoring their gods. God angrily promises to tear all but one tribe from the kingdom. A psalmist urges Israel to forsake idols, which can’t speak, hear or see. Note 1 Kings 11: Solomon finally had 700 wives and 300 concubines (1 Kings 11:3). The ‘one tribe’ of 1 Kings 11:13 is Judah. It also included Benjamin but by this time the latter was gradually losing its separate identity.
